Start a Chapter!

The first step in creating a Young Democrats chapter is to fill out the form below. When you do - you will not only be notifying YDA national and your state YD leaders that you are interested in starting up a chapter - you will also be given access to a very powerful chapter and membership management tool called DEMopolis!

WHILE CREATING YOUR CHAPTER ...

Make sure it isn't already created!
Go here to make sure someone hasn't already created the chapter. If the chapter has already been created but is inactive, no longer actually exists, or you are the leader and can't access it ... DON'T MAKE A NEW ONE ... this is a sophisticated management tool - no need to go making a bunch of duplicates! Instead, send an email to office@yda.org right now and we will get you going on the existing chapter

Do not use abbreviations.
If your high school is Santa Monica High, don't call your chapter SMHS YDs. There are MAYBE 300 schools called SMHS on just the west coast ... so doing so gets confusing. Same goes for colleges - there is no shortage of MSU's or ASU's - so call your chapter the "Arizona State Young Dems" and save everyone from the guessing game :)

Select a "parent chapter."
It is a weird term, sure, but you do need to select a parent chapter when you create yours. It is actually really simple to do - just choose the State YD chapter from, well your state! Easy huh?

Got it? Good! Now go create a YD chapter!!
